Welcome to the Examinations & Data Office
For students, external examinations are the culmination of years of study and we at St. Mary’s Catholic High School are committed to providing the very best possible conditions in order for assessment to take place. The results students achieve will have a significant bearing on the next stage of their lives, including where they study at college or university and their future career paths.
It is therefore vital that students and their parents are fully informed about all aspects of the examinations process and what is expected of candidates so within the Examination Information section of this website we aim to provide students and parents with the tools and information which we hope will be both useful and informative.
The Examinations Office is responsible for the administration and organisation of all aspects of external examinations in accordance with the regulations laid down by the awarding bodies.
This includes submitting entries for exams to meet Exam Board deadlines, organising Access Arrangements for students requiring additional support, coordinating examination rooms and invigilation required to supervise the students, as well as resolving any problems which may arise beforehand or during the examination sessions.
Over the next few weeks the Examinations section will be updated to include vital information relevant to GCSE, A level and BTEC Qualifications. On these pages you will find information about the rules and regulations laid down by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) that governs the awarding bodies, what you should do if your son or daughter requires special arrangements for his or her examinations or if he or she is ill during their exams, exam fees, course codes, timetables for forthcoming exams, results' days and appeals.
There will also be a section on Exam Techniques and key websites which will be useful for your son or daughters revision. All of this information will help you to support and encourage your son or daughter throughout his or her examinations.
This page will also provide exam timetable dates for the next set of exams to be sat by our students as well as a list of key dates.
Once results have been published, Application forms for exam re-sits, Access to Scripts (ATS) as well as Enquiries about Results (EARs) will be available and updated as each exam season changes.
In the event the school is closed during adverse weather conditions or other emergency and providing it is safe to do so, St Marys Catholic High School will open for external examinations only with a skeleton staff to include the Examinations Officer.
Information, updates and plans regarding public examinations during disruptions to normal school days will be posted on the Examinations page of the school’s website providing internet access is available to upload the information.
Students living locally and those who are able to complete their journey to school safely can sit their examinations as planned.
The school reserves the right to adjust the start and finish times of examinations by half an hour.
Students must advise the school immediately if they are unable to attend an examination by emailing the Examinations Officer:
Please note, awarding bodies do not offer refunds to candidates unable to attend for their examinations even during extreme weather conditions. Candidates may take their examinations at the next available session.
