On Friday 24th May the Year 13 students came together with staff for a service to celebrate the end of their time studying in the sixth form. The service was led by Father Paul who offered some thoughts about the future and prayed for the students. Rhianna Burke and Matthew Winnard-Sivill spoke in the role as Head Girl and Head Boy, commented on how fast their time at St. Mary’s had passed, the memories they had created and offered thanks to the staff for their support. Mr Dawson and Mr Robinson addressed the students, commending them on their approach to college, particularly their response to adversity.
A number of awards were presented to students for achievement in each subject and three overall awards:
Academic Achievement – Kristian W
Phillip Aldred Award for contribution to Sixth Form Life – Anna M
Doc D Award for Resilience – Georgia M
There was also the traditional video including photographs of the students experiences during their time at St. Mary’s, showing how much (or little) some had changed over the years. The service concluded with bidding prayers from staff and students and a blessing by Father Paul. There was a buffet in the church hall and then photographs.
