St Mary’s STEM Club

St Mary’s STEM Club were invited to take part in the launch of the RHS Green Plan It challenge held at Salford university. The challenge is a 10 week task were the students must create a garden space using an existing area from around school. The students were given a tour of the university grounds and the £1.4m regeneration of Peel Park.

They also took part in activities looking at different plants and how plants can support life in different habitats. Tony works for the 3rd largest garden centre in the northwest and oversees the horticulture side to the business. Over the next 10 weeks the students will be researching and designing their garden space and preparing for a presentation back at Salford university on November 30th.

The students who took part in the challenge launch day behaved impeccably and were commended by both the groups mentors and the event organisers.
