Arts Celebration Summer Concert 2018
On the 20th June 2018, here at St Mary’s we hosted our annual Arts Celebration Concert showcasing the wealth of talent from the Creative Arts Faculty.
Concert goers were treated to an exhibition of GCSE art work as they arrived followed by performances from a variety of acts including St Mary’s Choir, Legally Blonde (a preview of the school production) as well as acts from Years 7 to 13 with sixth form student, Dillon Sharrocks stating the “talent was exceptional this year”.
This year we had to say goodbye to members of our Year 13 Rockschool band “Tina in the Back”, who were all presented with the Steven Blears Award for their outstanding contribution to the Music department and whole school community. Band member, Nia Blackmore said she was “overwhelmed as the music group have supported each other over the last two years, so it meant a lot to perform with each other one last time and receive an award to commemorate our time together”.
This year we also awarded the Phillip Aldred Award in Art to Natalie Holden and the Caitlin Bradbury Award in Drama to Gabrielle Ogden. These awards are made in loving memory of those students who gave so much to the arts during their time at St Mary’s.
Both audience and performers alike had a memorable evening celebrating the talent of our students here at St Mary’s. We hope to see you all at the Christmas Concert!
