Y13 Celebration Service
On Friday 25th May Year 13 students gathered with staff and governors to celebrate their time in the sixth form. For many students this marked the end of seven years at St. Mary’s before moving on to new opportunities. Father Paul led the service in his usual calm and encouraging manner. There was a positive atmosphere as thanks were offered by Head Boy and Girl for the friendships and memories that had been created and the support that had been provided.
Mr Robinson and Mr Dawson spoke to explain the pride they had in the students and to offer them advice for the future. A series of awards were distributed, recognising the exceptional progress made by students in each subject. There were also three separate awards:
Joseph Nugent - Academic Excellence
Millie Bolton – Phillip Aldred Award for contribution to sixth form life
Thomas Whistlecroft – Doc D Award for resilience
The traditional photo montage showed how much the students had changed since they had started at St. Mary’s and the varied events that they had been involved in over the years. The service ended with Father Paul giving a blessing and staff and students enjoyed a buffet together before Mr Barrett took photographs.
The final event for this year group will be the Leaver’s ball at the Midland Hotel in Manchester after the completion of the students’ examinations on 29th June.
