The pupils at St Mary’s have really impressed us this Advent and Christmas season, the form tutors, house leaders and other staff members have been overwhelmed with the charitable nature of our pupils.
Over the Advent period, we asked forms to complete the ‘reverse advent calendar’, as well as having a gift themselves every morning from their advent calendar, we asked them to bring a food item in to create a food box for Atherton and Leigh Food Bank. The donations were overwhelming, we had plentiful donations and some even went the extra mile to buy biscuits, sweets and chocolate to make Christmas special. The van was jam packed full of food to distribute to local homes needing food donations in our community.
The pupils and staff have also brought toiletries into school to donate to another local charity ‘The Mustard seed’, see the photos to look at the boxes of toiletries we donated.
The pupils also helped our local parish St Joseph’s by making food hampers for the SVP group to distribute to those in need of a little Christmas perk this time of year.
Overall, we cannot thank the pupils enough for their enthusiasm and empathy in trying to help others this Christmas.
