Year 13 Celebration Service
The Celebration Service for our Year 13 students who are leaving this year was held in St. Ambrose Barlow church on Friday 26th May. Father Paul led the service which looked back over the years the students have been at St. Mary’s both in the sixth form and, for many students, the high school before that.
Rachel Ball and Adam Francis, our Head Girl and Boy, spoke to offer thanks for the support they had received and also to mention how much all students were looking forward to the summer after completing A Level examinations and BTEC assignments. Mr Dawson addressed the year group, praising them for the qualities they had demonstrated, particularly in the last few weeks.
A number of awards were presented to students, including one for each subject studied in the sixth form. Special awards were given to the following individuals:
Phillip Aldred Award for contribution to sixth form life – Rachael Whitley
Doc D Award for success in the face of adversity – Louise Proctor
Academic Excellence – Durray Ali
The service ended with a selection of photographs of students from their time at St. Mary's and a blessing from Father Paul. This was followed by a buffet and a photo shoot in the sunshine.
