STEM Club - Lego Challenge
On Monday 6th March St Mary's STEM Club took part in the Tomorrows Engineers - Lego Robotics Challenge. The pupils, who attend STEM Club on Monday nights had to complete a series of challenges on the day to compete in the competition. The challenges included programming Lego robots to compete various tasks in a 'space' environment. Students had to take part in group presentations where the students discussed what robots may be like in the future.
Another challenge was to work as a team to build a 'castle' in 15 minutes delegating jobs and being as efficient as possible. The final challenge was a discussion with the judges about how they managed to programme their robots and what difficulties they had to overcome.
The students involved were: Brandon Gilmartin, Amie Taylor, India Scott, Megan Smith, Jamie Hill, Pippa Lloyd, Hollie Gee, Joe Stout, Joe Quinn, Edlin Kanichayi. Although the students didn't manage to secure a place in the regional final they did win the team challenge out of the 15 schools that attended the event, winning a trophy, certificate and prize. The students represented the school with exemplary behaviour and fantastic attitudes. I would just like to take this opportunity to publicly thank them for taking part, well done!
