Fast Bleep Medics Course
At St Mary’s we hope to provide ideas and inspiration to help pupils get the most out of their academic potential and provide them with opportunities where they can gain first hand experience of the career path they want to pursue.
With this in mind we were fortunate enough to have Fastbleep medics run a workshop for a selected group of KS4 and KS5 students. Fastbleep’s manifesto is to best prepare the students of today to become the doctors of tomorrow. They are a non-profit organisation of medical students from the University of Manchester that aims to improve social mobility in medicine.
The workshop involved a team of highly skilled and dedicated medical students running an interactive and practical training session. The workshop provided an overview of medicine as a career, advice about volunteering and work experience, and a series of explorative exercises that included blood pressure readings, reflexes, basic life support (adult and baby), skeletal and organ anatomy, ear examination and suturing.
