Drama, Music and PE are working with Learning Journals throughout Key Stage 3.

All students in Key Stage 4 will be issued with a new A4 exercise book each Learning Programme (Term) or Unit (Relating to the Qualification being studied).

There are no Learning Programmes for Key Stage 5 subjects. The Curriculum Overview for each course can be found in the Year 12 and Year 13 tabs.

All Learning Programmes will be displayed on the first page of all exercise books. Each Learning Programme can found in the separate tab for each Year Group.

The aim of the Science Department is to ensure that each pupil is enthused by Science and attains their full potential at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. It is one of the largest departments in the school and offers a wide range of courses at Key Stages 4 and 5 achieving very good results.

We develop students’ abilities through a wide range of teaching styles. Classes are held in specialised laboratories encouraging students to study aspects of the course through hands on practical work to engage and motivate. We support all our students and offer additional revision classes at all key stages where required throughout the year.

We have a well-established system of regular assessments for all pupils. Marked work has feedback to challenge students and move their learning on in order that they may achieve their best possible level or grade. The target for our staff, as well as ensuring all pupils achieve their potential, is that they leave St. Marys with a sound knowledge of Science and how it plays a large role in their lives.
