Careers Programme Purpose
Young people face more options than ever before in education, training and employment. We aim to provide high quality careers education and guidance to enable them to make choices wisely, achieve their potential and put their talents to good use throughout their career. We continually look for ways to strengthen and extend our links with training providers and local businesses. Our Careers programme aims to help individuals to succeed and to achieve their broader aims by raising their aspirations and equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for the future. We have various enrichment events and workshops that take place throughout the academic year for all students. We also have a dedicated UCAS mentor team that works within KS5.
As a school we employ two independent and impartial careers advisors from Aspiring Futures (formerly Wigan Careers Service), which is part of Wigan Council. Catherine Gibbons, pictured below, works on a Tuesday and specialises in KS3 and KS4 advice and guidance. Lucy Johnson will be working in KS5 one day a week for self-referrals and drop-in appointments.
