The Futures Programme
St. Mary’s is committed to supporting all of our Key Stage 5 students in their progression to higher education, apprenticeships or the workplace, regardless of background. The St. Mary’s Futures Programme does this by offering Year 12 students the chance to take part in a range of activities aimed at preparing them for their next steps, including academic skills workshops, lectures, seminars, trips and much more. All of our students will have access to these exciting opportunities to prepare for their future with a tailored approach based on measures such as academic potential, experience and prospects. We pride ourselves on the inclusivity of our offer which increases everyone’s chance of success.

Futures Academy
Our Futures Academy provides students with the best possible preparation for their next steps and supports their progression to the top universities or companies in their chosen field. By providing unique career focused programmes to develop a wide range of transferable skills whilst enhancing vocational knowledge.
Each Academy includes:
- Workshops from lecturers
- Placements
- Relevant keynote speakers
- University visits
- Workshops on personal statements / CVs
- Competitions (academic awards)
- Volunteering programmes
- UKCAT/ LNAT / MDV workshops (where appropriate)
- Interview preparation workshops
- 1 to 1 UCAS and apprenticeship guidance
- 1 to 1 careers advice
- Access to the alumni mentoring programme
Honours Academy
This is designed for the most academically able students (GCSE profile that is mainly 9s, 8s and some 7s) who aspire to apply to Oxbridge, MDV and Russell Group universities. All Honours Academy students complete the High Attaining Students Programme.
