Outstanding Results for GCSE Students
St. Mary's Catholic community are delighted with our students' GCSE results; for the third year running our results have risen bucking the falling national trend. Our Year 11s came to us in the 2019/20 school year and none of us had any idea of what their Year 7 and 8 would end up being like; their resilience and fortitude have shone through over the last few years and we are so proud to be here with them today celebrating all that they have achieved. Despite a global pandemic and the constant disruption to their education through that time, they have thrived and we are excited to see what they will do next in our Sixth Form.
The hard work and determination of this exceptional cohort has seen attainment rise again and we couldn't be more pleased with the results.
Denise Brahms, Headteacher, expressed her delight with the results saying "we all know what a tough set of years these students have had and yet here they are not only succeeding with their results but also have a wide range of bright pathways and futures lined up for themselves. I am really excited at the prospect of these students becoming our Year 12. The partnerships between staff, students and parents have never been more vital and I am delighted with how the St. Mary's community have pulled together to support these students through their first five years at St. Mary's. I would like to express my gratitude to the staff of St. Mary's; teachers, pastoral and support staff for all of the time and effort that they have given to the class of 2024!"
Neil Gredecki, Chair of Governors’, says that “It is great to see the successes of our school community again this year. The improvements in grades again are a testament to the hard work of the children, the teaching staff and the leadership of the school. I am very proud of the achievements that we have seen today!”
