Mental Health: Individuals and Society

 

The AAQ National Extended Certificate in Mental Health develops an understanding the range of factors that can influence our mental health and the potential effects they can have. You will learn about identifying strategies that can be implemented to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and communities. You will study how monitoring tools can be used to to understand individuals’ mental health and wellbeing, and consider the factors that influence us and the strategies that can be used to effectively improve the lives of individuals.

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is ideal for anyone who is interested in developing their knowledge of both mental health and how this can be monitored and improved. It will be of particular interest if you may be considering a career in this important field.

What will I study?

There are four units and they are assessed through a combination of coursework and examination:

  • Fundamentals of mental health and the individual
  • Supporting and promoting mental health and wellbeing in organisations
  • Community-based support for mental health and wellbeing
  • Supporting mental health and wellbeing with outdoor and creative activities

You will be assessed by a combination of examination and coursework across the two year course.

Where could this course take me?

This course links to a range of progression pathways including moving on to employment, apprenticeship or further study at university in fields such as social care, counselling, nursing, midwifery and other health and social care related areas.
