Year 10 Rugby

In the Year 10 North West Counties Quarter Final tie between St Mary’s and St John Fisher, the boys successfully made it through to the semi-finals and also qualified for the first round of the Champion Schools National competition. The scoreline of 40-12 doesn’t really show how tough the game was, particularly as St John Fisher took an early 6-0 lead and were in charge of the game for the first twenty minutes. However, in the lead up to half-time, St Mary’s managed to score two tries and in the second half were able to pull away in what was a clinical performance by scoring some well-worked tries. Nathan S and Flynn T-H claimed two tries apiece out wide whilst other scorers were Zac B-R, Jack E and Connor K.

The team will now play St Peter and Paul in the semi-finals and await a school from Cumbria in the first round of the Champion Schools competition. Well done so far boys!
